JBJ NANO Glo 4 LED Refugium Light.
JBJ introduces the NANO-GLO LED to upgrade your existing Nano Cube
into an “In-Tank” Refugium. The NANO-GLO LED refugium light boasts 4
powerful high intensity LED’s that evenly distribute light for macro
algae, and aid in the removal of unwanted phosphates and nitrates. Its
innovative design utilizes a powerful magnet to attach to the rear wall
of the aquarium for mobility and secure placement.
In-Tank Refugium
The NANO-GLO was specifically designed for the 28g Nano Cube CF QUAD
aquarium, which is sold with a transparent filter basket. But the design
is so versatile that it can be used to light any small nano aquarium
that usually cannot accommodate top lighting due to space constraints
and fully enclosed canopies.
Refugium Benefits
Refugiums provide natural filtration as algae grows in a controlled area
with light and water flow to export unwanted nutrients such as
phosphates and nitrates. They also help stabalize the pH and oxygen
levels consistently throughout the day by absorbing CO2 gas during
evening hours when the main tank lights are off. And they are the
perfect way to grow natural food sources that propagate and feed the
aquarium naturally.
High-Intensity LEDs
These small LED’s produce an incredible 70 lumens each while only
consuming 1 watt per bulb. The new higher output design still creates
minimal heat and lasts an amazing 40,000 hours.
Nano Glo 2Magnetic Rear Mounted
The NANO-GLO securely attaches to the rear wall of the aquarium via an
integrated magnet in the light housing and a floating magnet that is
placed inside the filter chamber. This compact design (3/4” width)
discreetly is hidden and is placed out of the way of routine maintenance
and cleaning. The innovative magnet inside the aquarium will instantly
float towards the surface when the light is removed preventing it from
sinking to the bottom of the tank.
Filter Basket Layout
First Chamber – Place a small ball of Chaetomorpha algae which should
fill up half the chamber. This will provide room for growth.
Second Chamber – Place the activated carbon bag to help remove dissolved
organic compounds. Replace monthly as odor and discoloration of the
water can occur.
Third Chamber – Place the mechanical sponge to prevent any loose strands
of the Chaetomorpha algae (spaghetti algae) from entering the pump
column. This will also help trap particulate matter and free floating
debris.
Lighting the Refugium
Since pH and oxygen levels generally drop once the main tank lights are
turned off, we suggest running the NANO-GLO on a reverse daylight cycle.
This simply means to have a timer turn on the NANO-GLO LEDs once the
main tank lights are turned off. The NANO-GLO should be turned off prior
to the main tank lights turning on again.
